Stopped to take a break and grab supplies for the campsite!
Mount Washington is an ultra-prominent mountain in the state of New Hampshire. It is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288.2 ft
Where we stayed many nights, many years howling hounds and bonfires, to cold, cold showers.
New Hampshire doesn’t mess around when it comes to riding. I spent some time up there recently, and I’ve gotta say — it’s one of those places where the roads, the views, and the quiet in-between moments just hit different. There’s something about staying in the mountains that makes the ride feel more like a reset than a trip.
This ride was all about chasing the notches — those scenic mountain passes that carve their way through the White Mountains. If you’ve never ridden up here, let me put you on: the notches are some of the most beautiful routes on the East Coast.
Franconia Notch was my first stop. Classic New Hampshire — sharp turns, towering cliffs, and that cool mountain air that clears your head with every mile. Riding through it feels like you’re slicing right through the heart of the mountains.
Then there’s Crawford Notch, which snakes along Route 302. It’s a bit more open than Franconia but just as stunning. Tons of elevation changes, tight curves, and postcard views around every bend. Definitely a must if you’re stringing together a day of notch riding.
Pinkham Notch came next, rolling north on Route 16. This one's right near Mount Washington, and if you're lucky with the weather, that massive peak looming in the background makes for a hell of a backdrop.
Another gem? Dixville Notch, way up in the North Country. It’s more remote, but that just adds to the magic. Quiet roads, moose sightings (no joke, even white albino moose), and a perfect place to get lost in the ride.
Somewhere along the way, we made a pit stop at the L.L. Cote store in Errol. That place is a wild mix of outdoor gear, snacks, fishing stuff, and everything in between. It’s one of those “you gotta stop” spots — whether you need something or not.
And of course — We couldn’t leave New Hampshire without ripping across the legendary Kancamagus Highway. The Kanc is one of the most talked-about roads in the Northeast, and for good reason. Smooth pavement, sweeping turns, elevation, overlooks, rivers, forests — it’s 30+ miles of pure motorcycle therapy. Hit it at the right time, and it feels like the whole road belongs to you, or at nighttime (no suggested) it feels like you belong to the road.
